Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama employee shot outside of plant
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police are investigating a shooting that happened late Wednesday night outside of the Hyundai plant.
It happened around 10:27 p.m. in the 700 block of Hyundai Boulevard. A spokesperson with Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama confirmed that the shooting happened in the employee parking lot.
Once officers arrived, they found an adult male with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
While authorities have not released his identity, the spokesperson tells us that the victim is a HMMA team member, but they do not believe that the suspect works at the facility.
HMMA released this statement to Action 8 News:
“Our thoughts are with our team member and their family, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident, and we are cooperating fully with that investigation. Because it remains an active investigation, we are unable to provide additional details at this time. We are grateful for the prompt response of law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, and those who assisted at the scene.
The safety and security of our team members remain our highest priority.”
No word on arrests at this time.
