Montgomery man arrested after chase ends on Woodmere Boulevard

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A Montgomery man is now in custody after he attempted to elude law enforcement officers.

Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency say on Friday, officers assigned to the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Castle Ridge Road in Montgomery.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a chase started.

Ultimately, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Kani Coleman, stopped in the 5000 block of Woodmere Boulevard and got out of the vehicle before fleeing on foot while armed with a gun.

Coleman was eventually arrested, then transported to Baptist Medical Center South for a medical evaluation.

After being released from the hospital, Coleman was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility and charged with Attempting to Elude.
