Selma City Schools preparing for upcoming school year

The upcoming school year is only a few weeks away. And Selma City School officials have been working all summer — to get ready for the fall.

Superintendent Dr. David Scott is eagerly planning and laying out the focus for the new school year.

He says the upcoming year will feature some major changes around the school district.

The new School of Discovery opens this fall — for 5th and 6th graders.

Scott says the new grade structure will help the district improve it’s bottom line.

“The bottom line is that, that we make sure that our boys and girls are prepared when they leave Selma High to be successful in any endeavor that they choose, whether it’s college, whether it’s military, whether it’s the workforce,” said Scott.

“Just making sure that we are doing our due diligence to make sure that we have our boys and girls prepared.”

The first day of school for the Selma City School district — is August 10th.
