MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) – A Millbrook man is in custody facing several charges following a chase.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson says around 10:35 p.m. Monday, one of his officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Deatsville Highway.

Upon making contact, the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Once the officer requested additional backup, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and continued northbound on Deatsville Highway. The police chase eventually ended near the intersection of Thornfield and Tanglewood Court, where the suspect then fled on foot.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Ethan Songao, was taken into custody after officers deployed a Taser.

A subsequent search of Songao’s vehicle revealed the presence of multiple small plastic bags containing a plant material, believed to be marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Songao was booked into the Elmore County Jail and charged with felony attempting to elude, 2nd degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
