Suspect burglarizes El Taco Shop in Montgomery, steals safe

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police are looking for the person(s) responsible for burglarizing two East Montgomery businesses.

The first one happened around 3:29 a.m. Tuesday in the 3200 block of Malcolm Drive.

Police say an unknown male suspect made his way into a business and took cash.

Action 8 News stopped by the business Wednesday. Leidi Espinosa, owner of El Taco Shop, says the burglar gained entry by smashing the front door. Once inside, he found a safe that contained several days worth of cash sales.

The suspect ripped the safe from the wall after destroying a security camera.

Montgomery police also say they received a report of another business burglary between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in the 3400 block of Malcolm Drive.

In that situation, the unknown suspect forced entry into the business and took cash and additional items.

Police have not said if they are looking for the same suspect in both cases.
