PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – A contract between the town of Pike Road and a volunteer fire department has ended, which affects residents in part of the area.

The Rolling Hills Lakes Volunteer Fire Department has announced the end of the contract on its Facebook page. The fire department is located on Trotman Road, which is just off U.S. Highway 231 in the southern part of the Pike Road area.

The fire department says residents and businesses on and west of U.S. Highway 231 may be affected. It says it may no longer be the first responder in case of an emergency. It advises people who think they may be affected to contact Pike Road Town Hall for further guidance.

It says this change could affect response time and insurance ratings.

Action 8 News will contact the town of Pike Road to get more information on how the end of this contract affects homeowners and businesses.
