Two charged in fatal shootings of two people in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Two people have been charged in a fatal shooting that left two people dead in Montgomery last month.

Montgomery police say 18-year-old LaQuinton Judkins has been charged with capital murder and two counts of assault in the 1st degree. They say 18-year-old Quintin Tyus was charged with assault in the 1st degree. Both suspects are from Montgomery.

They are charged in connection to the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Sa’Vion Gilchrist and 20-year-old Demarion Calhoun, both who were also from Montgomery.

On June 20, at approximately 6:30PM police and fire rescue were called to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of Eastern Boulevard, which is near Carmichael Road. That’s where they found Gilchrist with a fatal gunshot wound. Calhoun was found dead of a gunshot wound in the 5600 block of Carmichael Road, not far away.

Shortly after finding their bodies, police were told of two additional victims who had taken themselves to hospitals for treatment.

Both Jones and Tyus are being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
