Man convicted of raping, strangling five-year-old girl in Phenix City set for execution in August

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – An Alabama death row inmate is closer to his execution date next month.

As Action 8 News has reported, Jeremy Williams was given four death sentences for killing a 5-year-old girl in 2021.

Kamarie Holland was kidnapped, raped and brutalized before she was strangled to death.

Her mother said she woke up before 6AM on December 13, 2021, to find her little girl missing from their home in Columbus, Georgia, with the front door wide open. The girl’s body was found in an abandoned home across the state line in Phenix City.

According to multiple media reports, the girl’s mother, Kristy Siple, later pleaded guilty to human trafficking for selling her daughter to Williams for a sex act. She is being held at Tutwiler Prison on a sentence of 20 years.

Some jurors cried during the trial, which took place in 2024.

Williams’ ex-wife called him “soulless” and an adult woman who was four when Williams allegedly molested her described him as a “monster.”

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer newspaper that this was one of the hardest cases the sheriff’s office has ever had to investigate.

“If there’s ever been somebody that’s deserving of the death penalty its Jeremy Williams,” Taylor said after the sentencing in 2024. “He’s another type of evil that we in society just don’t need walking around.”

Williams’ execution by lethal injection is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, at Holman Prison in Atmore.
