Montgomery Organizations Team Up for Back-to-School Giveaway

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — School starts next week, and many families are checking off back-to-school shopping lists for clothes and supplies.

To help ease some of those costs, local businesses and organizations are hosting a Back-to-School Drive on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the EPIC Center Multiplex, 2477 E. South Blvd. in Montgomery.

The free event will include giveaways of school supplies, backpacks and haircuts for students. Food, music and games also will be available.

In the interview above, Cubie Rae Hayes and Marcus McQueen spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the event and how it will help students start the new school year prepared and looking their best.
