Students return for first day of class in Montgomery Public Schools
MONGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery Public Schools has something new as students were welcomed back to start the new school year.
The 2026-2027 school year started yesterday, which now includes the new Cyber Intelligence Academy, or CIA. It is the district’s newest magnet program, located at Park Crossing High School.
CIA is a two-in-one school model which focuses on teaching cyber security, law enforcement and business technology to 9th and 10th grade students.
While the program is within the Park Crossing campus, it has its own wing dedicated to students to learn in their own space.
Students at the system’s more than 50 schools are now back in class, with the focus being on a new era of excellence.
“This school year, we encourage parents to go ahead and download the Montgomery Public Schools’ app, which is free, and then through that platform, they can sign into rooms which is a two-way communication tool that we have introduced,” Rosanna Brewton, the director of communications for Montgomery Public Schools told Action 8 News. “That will allow families to communicate directly with their teachers, and so we want to make sure there are open lines of communications.”
CIA is still welcoming new students to apply for the program.
