MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Here are the latest special primary results from Action 8 News:
U.S. HOUSE DISTRICT 1 – REPUBLICAN
Lucas Burger 359 2%
Jerry Carl 13,586 71% – projected winner
John Mills 1,135 6%
Austin Sidwell 4,162 22%

The special primaries were held for U.S. House seats in Alabama congressional districts 1, 2, 6 and 7. These districts cover the entire Action 8 viewing area except for Tallapoosa and Lee counties.
The special primaries were needed because district lines were changed, which put some voters into different districts.

This will be the Congressional district map used in the 2026 elections. Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 have had their lines altered from the court-drawn map used in 2024 – Photo from Alabama Governor’s Office
No runoffs will be held in these races, so the top vote-getter will move on to November, even without getting more than 50% of the votes.
The Democratic and Republican nominees will face off in the general election on November 3.
