School year begins for students in Autauga County
PRATTVILLE, Ala. (WAKA) – Students in Autauga County Schools are among the latest to start the new school year.
A total of 1,800 students filled the halls of Prattville High School.
Principal Dr. Daniel Farris greeted students at the door while addressing cell phone policies and more rules for the students to follow.
Security checkpoints were also set up as an effort to help protect the students and staff.
“Safety is first priority,” Farris told Action 8 News. “We make sure all the students are safe when they come into our school, beyond that customer service approach with our students and our families, make sure they’re taken care of they know where to go. We’ve got plenty of time today to help everyone figure everything out and make sure we do the small things right. There’s a lot of small things, a checklist to take care of today, but do the small things right. If we do that, the big things are going to take care of themselves.”
Many other school districts also started back today, including Crenshaw County Schools, Fort Dale Academy, Prattville Christian Academy, Tallassee City Schools and Valiant Cross Academy.
