Heat advisory through Friday, hotter weather possible this weekend

A HEAT ADVISORY remains in effect until 9PM Friday 8/14/26 for central Alabama, and on Thursday 8/13/26 for southwest Alabama. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 90s, while peak heat index values reach or exceed 105° each afternoon. Take more frequent breaks in shaded, or better, air conditioned places and stay hydrated if you are outside for a long time to avoid heat-related illness.

Heat Advisory

Meanwhile, only isolated afternoon/evening showers/storms form Wednesday through Friday. Temperatures only fall into the mid and upper 70s each night. High temperatures could be in the upper 90s in most locations Saturday and Sunday. Heat advisories will likely be extended through this weekend in the future. Otherwise, rain coverage remains isolated during the afternoon/evening hours.

Hot and mainly dry weather continues into next week, with high temperatures approaching 100° Monday. Longer-range models suggest a cold front may approach the southeast Tuesday into Wednesday. While unlikely to provide direct heat relief with cooler or drier air, the front may increase rain coverage Tuesday and Wednesday. The intense heat may subside slightly late next week.
