Mobile murder suspect arrested in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ala. (WAKA) – A man wanted for murder in Mobile has been arrested in Greenville.

It happened around 11:16 p.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of Elm Court.

Once officers with the Mobile Police Department arrived, they found 61-year-old Laurie Gilchrist dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers also discovered a male victim and a female victim with life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the suspect, identified as Devin Kelly, shot the victims during a domestic altercation.

Mobile police say Kelly was later taken into custody.

Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn tells Action 8 News that his officers took Kelly into custody as he was traveling through the city after they received a tip from US Marshals.

Kelly is now in the Mobile County Metro Jail. He’s charged with Capital Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder and 1st degree Domestic Violence.
