CrimeStoppers: Prattville Papa John’s Robbed
CrimeStoppers is helping Prattville police look for a suspect in the robbery of a pizza restaurant.
On Saturday, February 6, at approximately 7:55 p.m., the Papa John’s was robbed on South Memorial Drive in Prattville .
Police say witnesses told them a man in a red hat, black shirt, blue jeans and wearing dark sunglasses approached the counter armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. Witnesses say he began pointing the gun at the supervisor and demanded money.
Police say after getting money from the register, the suspect demanded that the supervisor open the safe. Due to security measures, the safe could not be opened by the supervisor. Police say the suspect became extremely irritated, pointing the gun directly in the face of the supervisor. Police say the suspect then ran from the store, taking a left toward the back parking lot.
Minutes after the suspect fled, Prattville Police responded to the 1000 block of Gipson Street. Police say a resident said as he was driving in his pick-up truck on Gipson Street with his 4-year-old daughter, he and his daughter were shot at. Police say the resident said he saw a male running from the rear of Papa John’s and get into a silver vehicle. Police say the silver vehicle began traveling at a high rate of speed in reverse headed away from Papa John’s.
Officers say the witness described what he thought were the sound of fireworks and then feeling and hearing a loud ping hit the front of his vehicle. After the vehicle left, he pulled into a friend’s driveway to check on his daughter and to evaluate his vehicle. As he exited his vehicle he observed that one gunshot round had struck his vehicle, according to police.
Investigators believe the vehicle was possibly a silver Dodge Magnum.
