The Burger King in Greenville was damaged in an overnight fire.

Greenville Fire Chief Chad Phillips confirms to Alabama News Network that firefighters got a call shortly after midnight. Fire crews found fire in the ceiling tiles. He says it apparently started by a heating and cooling unit on the roof.

Heat and smoke did significant damage inside, although it only took firefighters about five minutes to put out the fire. It’s not yet known when the restaurant will reopen.
