Intense heat and low rain chances this week, less hot this weekend
An excessive heat warning continues until 9PM Monday for central Alabama. With high temperatures approaching 100°, peak heat indices may exceed 110°. A heat advisory continues through 8PM Tuesday for southwest Alabama, where heat indices may approach 110° with high temperatures near 100°. If you are outside for a long time, take more frequent breaks in shaded, or better, air conditioned places and stay hydrated to avoid heat-related illness.
Besides the intense heat, Monday afternoon looks partly cloudy with isolated showers and storms. Some storms linger into the evening, then fade away Monday night. The sky becomes partly cloudy to mostly clear with lows in the mid to upper 70s. Rain coverage remains isolated Tuesday, with showers and storms forming along an approaching front. That front may deliver drier air to part of Alabama mainly to our north. However, our area remains very hot and humid.
High temperatures may be in the upper 90s for most again Wednesday. Meanwhile, rain coverage remains isolated. However, the rest of the week and this weekend might be less hot, although rain coverage likely remains limited. High temperatures may still range from the mid to upper 90s Thursday, but could stay in the low to mid 90s Friday. High temperatures range from the low to mid 90s with isolated showers/storms Saturday and Sunday.
