Two Dead in Murder-Suicide Shooting

Police say a man shot his former girlfriend to death then killed himself in a central Alabama neighborhood.

Trussville police Capt. Jeff Bridges told multiple news outlets that 26-year-old Brittaney Owens and 29-year-old Troy Green were found in separate vehicles early Wednesday in Trussville. Both were pronounced dead at separate Birmingham hospitals.

Bridges says Green shot Owens in her chest twice, then returned to his vehicle and shot himself. The incident occurred in front of Owens’ parent’s home, where the former couple’s 3-year-old child resided.

Bridges says the two had not been in a relationship for some time. Green was arrested and charged with domestic violence in an incident related to Owens in 2014.
