Perry County Schools closed Monday after “anonymous threat”

PERRY COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA Action 8) – Perry County Schools has announced they will close Monday following an anonymous threat that school officials received Sunday morning.

Leaders say the closure affects students, faculty, and staff at both R.C. Hatch High School and Francis Marion School and was made in the best interest of those who learn and work in the building.

The district is working with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the matter and will refer additional questions to them.

It’s unclear what kind of threat was made.

Action 8 will keep you updated as we learn more.
