U.S. Air Force technology conference opens in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The 43rd Department of the Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower (DAFITC) training and education conference is underway in Montgomery.

This event brings together military, government and technology leaders, with nearly 5,000 attendees.

The three-day event brings a major economic benefit to the River Region while leaders speak about cybersecurity, defense and military preparation.

“It’s great to be here with all of the leadership from our Air Force, all civilians and contractors,” Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said. “For us to play host to it in the city of Montgomery, it’s not only impactful for us here in our city, it impacts the entire River Region.”

“It’s our privilege to host this military event. It makes a difference and national defense makes a difference. It makes a difference to our local economy. It fills up all of our hotels, our restaurants of course love it. Downtown is thriving. The entire River Region benefits from the impact of this conference,” Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Anna Buckalew said.

The conference runs through Wednesday.
