Proposed Chipotle in Montgomery to go before planning commission

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Could another Chipotle Mexican Grill be coming to the Capital City?

Action 8 News has learned that the restaurant chain is expected to go before the Montgomery Planning Commission Thursday.

The proposal is to take the old Starbucks in the 6500 block of Atlanta Highway and modify it for a new location. According to city records, the chain has also been issued a permit for the construction.

Action 8 News reached out to officials with Chipotle about the new location. While they were not able to provide any additional details, they did confirm that a new location is scheduled to open in Montgomery early next year.

If approved, this would be the fourth Chipotle in River Region. The other locations are in Eastchase and Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery. The other is on Cobbs Ford Road in Prattville.
