Dunham’s Sports to open new location in Wetumpka
WETUMPKA, Ala. (WAKA) – Dunham’s Sports will soon be opening a new location in Wetumpka.
City officials announced Friday that the sporting goods retailer will be opening in the former Food World building at Bienville Square Shopping Center.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dunham’s Sports to Wetumpka,” said Mayor Jerry Willis. “As the City of Natural Beauty, Wetumpka has become a destination for both sports tourism and outdoor recreation. Families travel here from across Alabama and the Southeast for tournaments, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and hunting, and Dunham’s Sports is a natural fit that will serve both our residents and the thousands of visitors who experience everything our community has to offer.”
The $2 million project will create 25 new jobs and is expected to generate a significant annual economic impact for the city.
City officials have not announced when construction will begin and when the store is expected to open.
Dunham’s Sports has about 260 locations across the country. This will be the sixth location in Alabama. The others are in Albertville, Ozark, Jasper, Scottsboro and Fort Payne.
