Fifteen candidates in Tuesday’s special election to fill Montgomery City Council seat
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Fifteen candidates are hoping to win Tuesday’s special election to fill the vacant District 3 seat on Montgomery City Council.
The seat became open when city council member Marche Johnson was removed earlier this year because city officials determined that she no longer lived in District 3. The other eight council members voted unanimously in June to remove her from her seat.
This is the list of candidates who will be on the ballot to replace her:
Marion Ackley
Mark Bailey
Johnny Bannister
LaPawn Carter, Jr.
Gregory Crawford
Kevin Elkins
Justin Hampton
Jose Harris
Steven Lambert
West Marcus
Montaski McCoy
De’Anthony Powell
Johnnie Chambers Sankey
Bibby Leon Simmons
Michelle Summers
Polls will be open from 7AM until 7PM on Tuesday. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the top two finishers will move on to a runoff on Tuesday, October 13.
