Man charged with stealing cattle in Butler County
BUTLER COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been arrested on charges that he stole cattle in Butler County.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Michael Tyrese Loveless has been charged with four counts of theft of property in the second degree. Each charge is a Class C felony. If he is convicted, Loveless could be sentenced to between one year and one day up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $15,000.
On August 27, the sheriff’s office says it was made aware of a cattle theft in the Mt. Zion community involving multiple head of cattle.
Loveless was arrested yesterday. His bond has been set at $40.000.
“I want to make it clear that I will not tolerate individuals stealing from the hardworking citizens of Butler County,” Sheriff David Scruggs said. “When someone steals livestock or other property, they are taking something our citizens have worked hard for. We will continue to thoroughly investigate these crimes and pursue criminal charges against those who seek to deprive our citizens of their property.”
