Montgomery Zoo preparing to open new entrance complex

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Montgomery Zoo is preparing to open its new multi-million dollar entrance complex after more than a year of construction.
The entrance will open Monday, September 14, at 11AM with a formal ribbon-cutting. Afterward, people who attended the ceremony can tour the new facility and get complimentary admission to the zoo.
As Action 8 News has reported, in May 2025, the Montgomery City Council approved spending $4.2 million on the complex at the 42-acre city-owned zoo.
“We are so thankful for the City of Montgomery for making this possible. Our staff has been hard at work getting the finishing touches complete for everyone to enjoy,” Marcia Woodard, Montgomery Zoo director, said.

The new admissions complex will be open to the public on Tuesday, September 15. Ever since construction began, the zoo has used a temporary entrance at the Mann Museum to welcome guests.
The new entrance includes new offices, ticket windows, a gift shop, restrooms and a new plaza.
The Montgomery Zoo is open every day from 9:30AM until 4:30PM, with last admission at 3:30pm.
Admission: Adults $19, Children (3-12 years) $15, Toddlers (2 years and under) free, and Seniors 65 years old and older $17.
