ACTION 8 UPDATE: $5,000 reward offered in search for missing Wetumpka man

WETUMPKA, Ala. (WAKA) – A $5,000 reward is now being offered in the hopes of finding a missing Wetumpka man.

As Action 8 News has reported, William Austin Mathews was seen walking away from his home near Ellis Road in Wetumpka at around noon on Saturday, August 29, apparently of his own accord. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Mathews has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.

The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office says it has used all available county resources in efforts to locate him, but those efforts have not yet been successful.

Elmore County Sheriff Franklin has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to Mathews being found.
