Former Governor Don Siegelman Granted Appeal Hearing

The 11th circuit court of appeals has agreed to hear arguments in the prosecution of former governor Don Siegelman according to sources.
CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery has learned that Siegelman’s lawyers are saying his prosecution was tainted because then U.S. Attorney Laura Canary said she would recuse herself and then failed to do so.
Siegelman said Canary’s husband was campaign manager for his opponent, and the Siegelman lawyers also argue the trial judge improperly inflated the sentence for the former governor.Â
Arguments will be heard on July 28th in Atlanta.
