One dead, another injured in domestic-related shooting in Troy

TROY, Ala. (WAKA) – Troy police say a domestic-related shooting has left one person dead and another injured.

Police say it happened in the 100 block of Prospect Ridge Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a female a short distance away with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Troy Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Officers determined that the suspect was still inside the residence where the shooting happened. They say he refused repeated commands to come out and barricaded himself in the garage. Police say after five hours of negotiations, officers heard a single gunshot from inside the garage. They entered the garage and found the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police have not released the names of those involved.
