Heart of Alabama Food Bank gets helping hand from Vance Law Firm
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Members of the Vance Law Firm in Montgomery stepped away from the courtroom and into the Heart of Alabama Food Bank to help local families facing hunger.
Vance Law Firm employees joined “Hunger Action Day” efforts as they volunteered their time and prepared food to move through the food bank’s network and into communities across Central Alabama.
September is Hunger Action Month, which is a nationwide awareness and mobilization campaign created by the organization Feeding America.
“We cannot do what we do without volunteers. Like I said, every box is packed by a volunteer. We just could not do it without them. So, it’s just so great to have Stewart Vance and his team come out and support us in this way,” John Lucas, the interim CEO for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank told Action 8 News.
The food bank says more than 275,000 people across its 35-county service area in Alabama face food insecurity.
