Elmore County leaders cut ribbon to new government complex
WETUMPKA, Ala. (WAKA) – Leaders in Elmore County are celebrating the completion of a new home for law enforcement and judicial services. It’s just the first phase of a larger project.
The $14 million law enforcement and judicial administrative building was built to provide more space for the county’s growing needs. The first floor is designed for the public, and residents can obtain permits, pay fines and get passports renewed there.
The second floor will house the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office and the circuit clerk’s office. Both offices were previously located in the original judicial complex which is still connected to the new building.
Phase two of this project will focus on renovating the old judicial complex to make room for two new judges being added.
