Hyundai unveils all-new 2027 Tucson as company celebrates record sales
NEW YORK, NY (WAKA) – Hyundai has taken the wraps off its all-new 2027 Tucson SUV, which is built in Montgomery, as the company celebrates new sales milestones.
The new Tucson was revealed late this afternoon at a media event in New York City. The new model is boxier, more modern looking and bigger than before, with a new hybrid powertrain option.
It offers more luggage space than its competitors and it comes with an available 17-inch central touchscreen.
The base price is estimated to be in the low $30,000 range. It should be available starting early next year.
The Montgomery-built Tucson is Hyundai’s top-selling model in the U.S.
This is big news for Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in Montgomery. The plant has 4,200 employees, and combined with the supplier jobs, 40,000 people in our area have a job connected to Hyundai. It produces 370,000 vehicles annually, contributing 20% of Montgomery’s GDP and making an annual economic impact of more than $5 billion to Alabama. The plant celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
In the meantime, Hyundai has announced new sales records.
It just recorded its best September sales in the U.S., at more than 77,000, which is up 9% from last year. It also had the best-ever third quarter at 246,000 sales, up 3%.
CNBC reports that Hyundai is poised to possibly pass The Ford Motor Company in sales, due in part to its hybrid models, when you add its sister brands Kia and Genesis to the mix.
That would put Hyundai in third place in the U.S., behind General Motors and Toyota.
