Murder suspect from Macon County arrested in Mississippi

MACON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man from Macon County who was wanted in the disappearance and killing of a Georgia woman has been arrested in Mississippi.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 68-year-old Comer McWaters of the Macon County town of Little Texas, was arrested in Perry County, Mississippi, which is in the southeastern part of that state.

ALEA says he had a murder warrant against him in the death of 49-year-old Eden Sexton. She was reported missing in Columbus, Georgia, in February after last being seen in the area of the 400 block of Victory Drive. In June, Columbus, Georgia, police asked for ALEA’s help in conducting a missing person investigation in the hope of finding her.

Details of Sexton’s death haven’t been released.

When he was arrested in Mississippi, McWaters was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, assault on an officer, resisting arrest and providing false identification to law enforcement.

McWaters is awaiting extradition to Alabama.
