MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The City of Montgomery is preparing to welcome players, coaches and fans to the Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic at Cramton Bowl.

The game is tomorrow at 6PM, featuring the Tuskegee Golden Tigers and HBCU rival the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers of Atlanta. There are plenty of other activities besides the game.

Kickoff festivities start tonight at Afterglow: The Classic Kickoff, which starts at 7PM at Riverfront Park, featuring comedy, music, and entertainment, which is free for people with game tickets. On Saturday, fans can enjoy the Fan Zone, tailgating, and post‑game fireworks.

No matter what happens on the field, Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed says it’s a win for the city.

“The economic impact is significant,” he said. “It’s a nationwide audience to showcase the city of Montgomery with two great HBCUs and their traditions, and it’s a great opportunity for us to market and brand the city. The dollars that they bring and spend here don’t hurt either, so we’re proud of all of what the fans bring and what they bring to our tax base and what it means overall to the city.”

Organizers say in the event of bad weather, they have their emergency action plan in place. The forecast calls for off-and-on rain.

The game was first played in Montgomery last year after being played in Columbus, Georgia, and in Birmingham. It has been played continuously since 1936, except for 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
