Woman killed in head-on crash in Pike County that left three others injured

PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A Union Springs woman has been killed in a head-on crash in Pike County that left three others injured.

Alabama State Troopers say 67-year-old Vernell Faniel was a passenger in a car that collided head-on with another car, driven by 31-year-old Vanquavious Flournoy of Brundidge.

Faniel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car that Faniel was riding in, 54-year-old Steven Wilson of Troy, and another passenger, 41-year-old Herman Faniel, Jr., of Banks, were both injured and taken to a Dothan hospital for treatment.

Flournoy was also injured and airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

The wreck happened just before 1PM yesterday on U.S. Highway 29 about three miles north of Troy.
