Gulf Shores Police Arrest Shooting Suspect

Police in Gulf Shores arrested an 18-year-old suspected in the shooting of a Spanish Fort teenager.

Police say Jermaine Cungious was transferred to the Baldwin County Detention Center in Bay Minette early Sunday. He had turned himself in at the Gulf Shores Police Department just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cungious is accused of shooting 18-year-old Tommie Cortez Jackson in the forearm on April 16 in Gulf Shores. Jackson was treated at a hospital and later released.

Cungious faces charges of second degree assault and reckless endangerment. It was not immediately clear Monday whether he had a lawyer.

Gulf Shores police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
