Meet Anya Montelara. She is an 8 year old that is full of life.
Friday night she put on her special skates to do something she looks forward to every year.
“Skating rinks, we have pizza, we do crafts and then we leave. And it’s really fun because people are nice there and I meet new people each year,” said Anya.
It’s the Magic Moments Valentine’s Party at Eastdale Mall for kids like Anya who struggle with some challenges.
“Anya was born with tibial hemimelia and it means the tibia bone or large shin bone was missing,” said Anya’s mom Jaime.
At 4 years old, she had to have her legs amputated.
But she doesn’t let that hold her back, and shes meeting new friends along the way.
“This nice girl named Shaelyn, she let me use her wheelchair as a stand and I really thank her for that. She’s a really nice kid and hopefully she might come to summer camp with me so we can have a lot of fun,” said Anya.
Magic Moments sole purpose is to bring joy and hope back into the lives of these kids.
And it’s simple night’s like this that mean the world to these families.
“Being able to get together with other people who can just look at you and just be like ‘I’ve been there, I get it.’ And they really do get it, that makes a really big difference in our lives to have that support network.”
