Autauga County Fair kicks off at fairgrounds

AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – The annual Autauga County Fair returned for the fall season at the Mac Gray Park Fairgrounds.

This the 59th year for the fair and organizers say it still bring in large crowds of people annually.

This year’s fair includes 20 family friendly rides, fun fair games, and affordable tickets at just $5.00.

There is also a stage set up for entertainment.

Among the fair foods available, are a flaming hot cheetos corndog, deep fried Oreos, chocolate covered strawberries, and in honor of Dolly Parton, a ‘Dolly Parton 9 to Fry’.

On Wednesday, you can get into the fair for free with three cans of food donations.

“We have quite a few volunteer groups that kinda put on the fair and it’s really generated for the families, for the smaller kids in the family,” says Gary Essary, the fair president. “Most of the rides are for that so that’s what we think is very unique about our fair.”

Essary says more than 300 entries were made in the arts and crafts contest over the weekend.

The fair runs through Saturday.
