MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been sentenced for his role in a 2023 armed robbery in which a sleeping victim was repeatedly hit in the head and robbed at gunpoint.

Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver says Michael Boone has been sentenced by Judge J.R. Gaines to 20 years in prison.

Oliver says Boone pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery during a court hearing, where evidence showed that on April 28, 2023, he and an accomplice entered the victim’s vehicle. The victim,
who was parked in 100 block of N. Burbank Drive, was asleep in the driver’s seat. She said the two men pulled out guns, and Boone, who was in the back seat, struck the victim multiple times in the head. Boone and his accomplice then stole the victim’s cash, jewelry and a gun before fleeing the scene, according to Oliver.

“Armed robberies are dangerous, violent crimes that put innocent lives at risk. When individuals use firearms to threaten, assault, and rob others, they must be held accountable. This 20-year sentence sends a clear message: those who engage in violent criminal activity involving firearms will face serious consequences, and my office will pursue prosecution to the fullest extent of the law,” Oliver said.
