PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – Two people have been arrested following a bank robbery in Pike Road.

Capt. Wesley Richerson of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the robbery happened just after 10AM at Brantley Bank on Vaughn Road. He says deputies were able to spot the suspects’ getaway car just a few minutes later.

The suspects led deputies on a chase that entered Montgomery before they crashed on Interstate 85 at the Union Street exit. Two male suspects were slightly hurt and taken into custody, Richerson said.

He says about a dozen sheriff’s deputies were involved in the chase, which ended about 20 minutes after the robbery.

The suspects have been identified as:

59-year-old James Bernard Matthews, charged with robbery in the 1st degree.
53-year-old Albert Devon Dorsey, charged with robbery in the 1st degree and felony attempting to elude.

Both suspects are being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
