MPS encourages parents to attend meeting about new program that gives high school students a head start on college or career

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Montgomery Public Schools students will have an opportunity to get a head start on college and career training through a new dual enrollment initiative.

MPS is partnering with Trenholm State Community College to launch a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Dual Enrollment program, allowing eligible high school students to earn college credit before graduating.

MPS CTE and Workforce Development Director Dr. Miranda Bissoo spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the initiative and the importance of helping students explore opportunities beyond high school.

Parents and students can learn more during a CTE Dual Enrollment Parent Night scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. at Trenholm State Community College, located at 1225 Air Base Blvd. in Montgomery.

The event will include an informational session and an overview of the new initiative, giving families an opportunity to learn about the program and how students can participate.
