Changes to ASU Management

The new president of Alabama State University is shaking up the school’s senior management.

The changes include the elimination of a vice president’s position held by state Rep. John Knight, who was once one of the most influential members of the Alabama House.

Knight has announced his retirement from Alabama State.

President Gwendolyn Boyd announced the changes on Friday. She says all the vice presidents now report to her.

Alabama State has been going through changes since a former president alleged inappropriate dealings by some officials at the historically black university in Montgomery.

Gov. Robert Bentley ordered an accounting review of the university and has given the preliminary finding to state and federal prosecutors for review.
