State Attorney General’s Office Takes Over ASU Audit

The state Attorney General’s office is taking over an investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement at Alabama State University.

This comes after a state ordered audit which shows the misuse of money by some university officials.

A spokeswoman for Alabama Governor Robert Bentley says the governor is not extending a contract for the firm, Forensic Strategic Solutions, which has been conducting the audit for about 16 months.

Alabama Attorney Luther Strange has recused himself from the investigation and appointed District Attorney Chris McCool in his place.
