Tigers’ Tra’Cee Tanner named to SEC Community Service Team

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Tra’Cee Tanner was named to the SEC Community Service Team for women’s basketball, the league announced this week.

Tanner, a senior from Birmingham, has spearheaded the Auburn team’s involvement with “Expressions of a BraveHeart,” a program that provides recreation opportunities to local youth and young adults with disabilities. She has also helped out as the team has adopted Boykin Daycare Center in Auburn, where the team spends time with the children and donates needed supplies regularly.

Tanner and the team volunteered during the preseason at Storybook Farm, where children with special needs spend an hour each week for equine therapy. She has also helped stuff backpacks with the team as part of the End Child Hunger initiative in conjunction with the Jason Dufner Charitable Foundation.

This marks the 18th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women’s basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004.

Auburn closes out the 2015-16 regular season Sunday as the Tigers travel to Gainesville, Fla., to face the Florida Gators. Tip is set for 1 p.m. CT at the O’Connell Center with the broadcast on SEC Network + and WINGS 94.3 FM.
