Keith defeated by Sacred Heart 75-67 in 1A semi-finals
BIRMINGHAM, AL (ahsaa.com) —Â Defending Class 1A state champion Sacred Heart Catholic out-scored Keith 11-3 over the final 3:16 of the game Monday to squeak out a 75-67 victory in the semifinals of the 94th annual AHSAA State Basketball Tournament at the BJCC Legacy Area Monday.
The victory for Coach Ralpheal Graves’ Cardinals (28-8) sets up the Class 1A championship game Thursday night at 5:45 p.m. against Georgiana (30-1).
Juniors D.J. Heath and Keion Nolen had 24 and 20 points, respectively, to lead Sacred Heart. Diante Wood also had 17 points and 12 rebounds. He was 9-for-9 and Nolan 9-for-11 on free throws for the Cardinals, who finished 29-of-37 as a tea .Senior John Pettway led Keith (26-7) with 34 points and 10 rebounds. He also had five assists and was 9-of-11 at the foul line.
Coach Tommy Tisdale’s Bears also got 12 points from Jimmy Powell and eight rebounds from Dalven Johnson.
