Vigil Held For Fallen Officers

It’s a staggering statistic- around 150 law enforcement officers die every year in the line of duty all across the country.
Â
This weekend a vigil was held in Montgomery to honor the lives of those lost this past year in Alabama.Â
Â
The annual vigil by the Alabama chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors draws family and friends from across the state even out of the state.Â
Â
They see it as a way to honor their loved ones and also cope with their loss connecting with people who are in their same shoes.Â
Â
Richard Barker, his son killed January 2004 said, “It really gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our son and still be a part of that, that group, that thin blue line that we talk about it really gives us an opportunity to feel like he’s still right there.”Â
Â
This vigil leads up to National Police Week set for May 11th through the 17th.Â
