Prattville Welcomes Home 217th Military Police
It was a sight family and friends of the 217th had been waiting for with their homemade signs and American flags.
One hundred twenty-fourĀ soldiers filed into the Doster Community Center nine months since they were first deployed to the Middle East for Operation Sentinel.
“Their primary mission over there was to provide customs and security support within that theater of operation. So throughout the Middle East, 6 countries, 22 locations. That’s exactly what they did,” said Major Todd Wheeler.
And their mission is now complete.
Cheers erupted from the crowd after they heard the orders, “217 MP Comp, you’re dismissed!!”
And the reunions can now begin.
“Been missing my little daughter. Been ready to get back and spend some more time with my family,” said one soldier.
“I’ve been counting down since January… The day is finally here!” said a female soldier.
Prattville’s patriotism and pride for their hometown heroes was shown in a big way.
“The community is a huge turnout. My family is a big turnout as well, but the community is awesome how many people showed up,” said another soldier.
