Some MPD Officers Unhappy with Arrest of Officer Aaron Smith

Montgomery mayor, Todd Strange, says police officers are becoming upset, concerned, and unhappy over the arrest of officer Aaron Smith.

The Office of City investigations will review evidence, but won’t include data turned over to state officials shortly after the shooting.

Smith is charged with shooting 58-year old Gregory Gunn to death early in the morning of February 25th.

The Montgomery Advertiser also reports the MPD Facebook page displayed a photo showing Smith, his lawyer, and Police Chief Earnest Finley smiling, with a caption about supporting the department’s officers.
