Elmore County Prepares for Possible Jess Meuse Hometown Visit

Will Elmore County’s Jess Meuse make it into the final 3 on American Idol? We’ll find out tonight.
And if she does, it means a huge slate of events near her hometown of Slapout.

People in Slapout are getting ready for her possible homecoming. The Saturday slate of events kicks off with a parade in her hometown of Slapout at 10:00 that morning. After that, a parade will come through downtown Wetumpka at 2:00, followed by a concert at Gold Star Park at 4:00. That’s if Jess advances to the Final 3. But no matter what happens now, people in Slapout say she’s already put her hometown on the map.
“For her to lock in and claim Slapout as her residence and where she’s from, that makes us proud because even though she had an opportunity to maybe claim other places because she moved around when she was younger, the fact that she finished here and continues to claim Holtville and Slapout as where she’s from, that makes us proud,” said Jimmy Hull, Principal of Holtville High School.
“It really stood out, like with Keith Urban and everything and i think it gave her that standout, like her pink hair,” said Keith Holley, family friend of Jess Meuse.

Although officials in Elmore County say they do expect an economic boost if the events go forward, they say it’s the positive attention Jess Meuse has brought to this area that makes the biggest difference.
