Jess Meuse, the American Idol finalist from Slapout in Elmore County, has been eliminated from the competition.

For several weeks, the judges reviews of her performances have been mixed, and she had landed in the bottom two on several occasions. However, her fans across Alabama never gave up faith that she would be the winner this season.

Her family and friends gathered for a watch party Thursday night in Slapout to find out the results.

It wasn’t the results they wanted, but it also wasn’t a shock to her mother, Sheila Meuse.

“I’ve been watching the polls and seeing what’s trending. I knew there was a possibilty of her going home,” said Sheila.

Family and friends are still proud of their home town girl.

“We are so proud of her. She is our hometown hero!” said family friend Paula Holley.

Even though she won’t be coming home with an American Idol visit,  that doesn’t mean she can’t have one of her own.

“We are going to have our own hero homecoming. And it’s going to be awesome!” said Sheila.

Jess will still get to go on tour with the American Idol concert series this summer.
