Corrections Officer is Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

An Alabama Department of Corrections officer is arrested on drug trafficking charges.

The Butler County Sheriff says 37 year old David Brooks of Troy delivered drugs to inmates at a correctional facility.

Brooks was a 15-year veteran of Department of Corrections.

According to authorities, nearly 55 thousand dollars worth of spice, meth, and other narcotics were seized.

He is being charged with conspiracy to traffic meth. 

<"We received information at the end of last week that there was a correctional officer coming to butler county to pick up methanphetamines. We were able to intercept that and was able to take him down on May 11th.">
 
Brooks is being held in the Butler County Jail on 150 thousand dollars bond. 
The Sheriff says other charges may follow.
